Artists Statement

Painting for me is my way of sharing the beautiful landscape around us. My inspiration comes from the quality of light and shadows which often becomes the main impluse behind the painting.

I have received my signature award from the Pastel Society of America (PSA) and from the Pastel Society of the West Coast (PSWC). I have been published in the Best of Pastel Landscape Inspirations and the premiere issue of Pastel Artist International magazine and the 2009 Best of American Artists Volume II.

I also work with silk dyes. I make silk scarves and silk paintings because of the the vibrancy and richness of color that can be achieved without sacrificing any of the fabrics natural softness and grace. The pigment is infused in the very fibers of the silk, rather than laid on top of the painting surface. This allows the natural sheen and sparkle of this beautiful material to continue to shine. This subtile shine adds a special quality of depth to the image. This is an ancient art form, and if properly cared for, a painting may last indefinitely.
