Artists Statement:

Joan sold her first sketch of a woman's face at age 8 while traveling by train with her parents when moving in her birthplace in Helena, Montana to their new home in San Francisco, California. After college Joan worked for attorneys and stock brokerage firms in Los Angeles and when she moved to Sacramento in 1960. She worked in the State Capitol Building as secretary to Senator Alfred H. Song, and Legislative Assistant to Assemblyman Dan Hauser. Retiring early, she returned to college to obtain her art degree, studying at American River College, Sierra College and UC Davis.

Always seeking excellence as an artist, she continues her thirst for artistic knowledge by studying with Gary Pruner, Jan Kunz, Daniel Green, Anne Gregory and other noted artists. Being intrigued with all mediums, her work is impressionistic or abstract, and of diverse subject matter, including oil, acrylic and watercolor.

Her works part of many collections throughout the United States. Paintings are currently shown at The New Artworks Gallery, 10239 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks, California.
