| Artists Statement: Joan sold her first sketch of a woman's face at age
8 while traveling by train with her parents when moving in her birthplace
in Helena, Montana to their new home in San Francisco, California.
After college Joan worked for attorneys and stock brokerage firms
in Los Angeles and when she moved to Sacramento in 1960. She worked
in the State Capitol Building as secretary to Senator Alfred H. Song,
and Legislative Assistant to Assemblyman Dan Hauser. Retiring early,
she returned to college to obtain her art degree, studying at American
River College, Sierra College and UC Davis. |
